I can't seem to find a simple jacket pattern that suits me! Looking for a collarless jacket, neither short nor boxy, that would be suitable for mid-weight fabric or even nicely-lined silk. Being tall, I prefer a longer length and a pattern without fussy details, one that could be dressed up or down with the right coordinating pants or skirt. Any ideas for an advanced beginner? Thanks in advance.

Thanks to everyone who replied with wonderful suggestions over the past two days. I really appreciate the input!

Have you looked at any of the Loes Hinse patterns? Classics. Simple. Elegant.

How about the jacket from Simplicity 2250? You can probably lengthen it quite easily, and you can definitely shape the seams (I did). It's also an easy, quick make.

Goodness, where have I been? I love every single jacket by Loes Hinse. I had never looked at her designs before. I must crawl out from under my rock more often! Thanks for the info on her patterns.

Glad you found her patterns as interesting as I do... and I should add....they are also easy to sew.

You haven't been under a rock. They don't get reviewed much here on PR, but if you do a search you will see that they are often reviewed on blogs and other sewing sites.

Consider signing up at the Casual Elegance site to get The Look Newsletter.

Enjoy!

Carla - thank you for the reminder of Loes Hinse. I did not know about her Casual Elegance newsletter (which I've signed up for).

How can one forget and neglect Loes' patterns? And philosophy?

Yes! Thank you for the suggestion. The jacket is lovely and I believe I can raise the neckline a bit.
