Is it a good buy and anything too watch out for?

There is A Bernina Virtuosa 150 quilters edition avaliable on Gumtree for $150. It has the foot pedal and instructions but an English not Australian power plug (we have numerous adaptors so not a big issue).
Dose anyone know if this machine has a speed control? And is there anything to look out for with this model?
Thank you

If it's working, $150 is a good price. The machine has a half speed button, but, not speed control slide. It probably has the plastic low mass hook, which I would change over to the metal one. It has a good powerful DC motor.

I have one and it is my favorite machine. It is a great machine. Mine is an early one and doesn't have the speed control on it. If it works $150 is a great price. I had the hook replaced with the metal one last year, but the old one had never given me any trouble.

I hate to think that my best machine is worth so little.

I have a 155, similar model, and it has been a workhorse for me for 10 yrs. I have seen prices around $600 usually or slightly more for it.

It's not that your machine is worth so little. In my area, I see them selling for $800. The one being discussed is a good buy if it's working. It sounds like there are things missing as well. The original came with a number of feet including a walking foot. The 150 and similar were and are good machines.

Can you go and test drive this machine? If so, and it seems to be in good health, this is a lovely model.
I think you would most likely enjoy it. It is certainly a killer price!

Any updates on this machine? Did you see it or was it already sold? Did you buy it?

I am a Quilter at heart. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors. Recently I have discovered I enjoy doing applique. I love making pictures. Using a sewing machine is much easier than counted cross stitch or oil painting for me. I enjoy landscape quilting as well. I am working on my first applique project in the spring of 2014.

Did you buy it?

There is one on ebay at the moment, hardly used but they are asking $800.

I missed out! I saw it only a day before we went away for a week and since it was 3 hours away I didn't have time to go then and when I got back it was gone from Gumtree. :(
Thanks for all the great feedback, I'll know for next time.
