I really wanted a dress form but did not want to spend the money for one, so after watching a few YouTube videos, decided to try a home made one. I altered an old t-shirt of my husbands so it was form fitting, then he covered me in duct tape. (Sounds more fun than it was!) Then he cut it up the back, taped it closed agin and we stuffed it with polyester cushion filler. We shoved it onto an old speaker stand (it's not quite centred), then I took another of his old t-shirts and sewed it to fit. I attached a sleeve to the neck and gathered it at the top. I'm really pleased with it. It's not my height, but since I never make dresses that's not a big problem for me. Thought I'd add this post in case anyone is looking for a cheap alternative.Home Made Dress Form

Since my name isn't actually Rita, I guess she can be Lovely Rita Meter Maid. She's even wearing a blue uniform :-)
Thanks for the idea!

Wow! When I was looking at the photo, I kept looking. That dress form looks so perfect that I couldn't find it. (yes, I was looking for a silvery duct tape one, with lots of tape and lines) You did a great job!
