I am now the proud owner of a Janome 3160 QDC. I am so used to having a walking foot like my Pfaff had that I would like to get one for my new Janome. I have looked at 200311003, 200339007 and 214517004 which all to me, if I'm correct, will fit the 3160 QDC. Which one do I get?

Congratulations! I'd get the 214517004, as it has interchangeable feet. Also consider the Rotary Even Feed Foot, which comes with a bias tape, hemmer and three rolled hem attachments.

How is the rotary even feed foot different than the 214517004 walking foot? I never use a blind stitch and I use my serger for rolled hems so I don't think I would need all the extras that come with the rotary even feed foot. Doesn't the walking foot do the same thing?

I have the open toe foot - never have to worry about it on any application I use it for - so I don't miss it being not open foot! The interchangeable bottoms one is fine but does cost a lot more - for whatever purpose, the open toed has been great on all my Janomes - all drop in bobbin. I think you do want the low shank drop in bobbin sort of feet for your new machine!

Congrats too BTW!!! Nice machine!

I really don't know what the difference is between the 200339007 and the 214517004. Do you?

Have you asked your dealer which one you should use and what is the difference?

The 214517004 one is a SET - you pay about 50 and there are interchangeable plates for the bottom of the foot. It's a good deal because the other one seems to be as expensive now! WOW. I can't believe the foot prices - they have really gone up.

I don't do quilting. All I need is a walking foot.

The rotary even foot set has a tractor part that rolls over the fabric good especially on uneven surfaces. It includes a blind hem guide very useful for very slippery fabric. The 3 roll hems included range from a 1/4" to 1" more like a hem at the bottom of a shirt. The set also includes an adjustable bias tape foot good for both garments and quilt projects. If you are doing rows and rows of quilting start with a walking foot first.

Well, the parts would be for open toe so you could do ZZ and deco stitching, and they the one without the open toe would be for straight stitching. That's why I bought the open toe walking foot. That one can do anything. :)

Check with your dealer....there may be a sale coming up and you could get a good deal on that foot.
