Has anyone come across sewing patterns or tutorials for packing cubes (like
this one from Eagle Creek)? I would like to make some for my travels and wondering if anyone has attempted this before.

Thanks,
RF

I've been looking for the very same thing! This is the only one I've found so far:

I love those things! I have several different sizes, as well as the "envelope" for folded hanging items.

But given the construction and materials, I would hesitate to try to make these on my own. Especially the materials.

You can get a 3 piece set (either all M or S-M-L sizes) for $30 or less. Just the really nice zippers (dual opening on the larger sizes) may cost almost that much! Not to mention the heavy duty nylon and the mesh they use.

Pack-It items really are beautifully designed and made. DH and I travel a lot, and these make the whole business so much easier and neater!

Although I've been sewing for ages, this is one case where I buy the ready made product, because in a sense, they have already invented and perfected the wheel.

I echo what Elona says. When you realize how inexpensive these are, and that the company has been making them for decades, I'd buy a set myself. Sure, they wouldn't be in the fabrics I specifically chose, but I'd place my money on it not coming apart if I chose to buy. After all, that's what they do...sew these

I agree that it probably wouldn't be worth the hassle of sourcing the materials and the time to make these. Here are a couple of other options for packing cubes that are less expensive per cube than Eagle Creek:

Thank you! I'm glad I asked for PR opinions on packing cubes. I will not begrudge forking money over now since it is more troublesome to make them than to buy them
