Hi.

I am making Butterick 5926 jacket. Right now I'm making a muslin in a size 8. I want to make the sleeves tighter as well as take the body in it in at the sides. Also I may take the back center seam in a little as well (may not need to do this after I take in the side seams. My question is: What order should I go in? I'm reading my Reader's Digest guide to sewing and it seems that if I take in the sleeves, I then have to raise the bodice underarm. But If I take in the the side seams this also raises the underarm? So I don't know which to do first. I think that I should start with the side seams of the jacket first and then narrow the arms. What would you recommend? Thanks

I would fit the bodice first then adjust the sleeves once you are happy with the bodice alterations.

I second Vicsguy's advice.

Yes, I agree. Make the bodice fit first. Looking forward to your jacket review!
