Well, I can buy an unsold Bernina Artista 630 with embroidery module for $2600.00 AND with 48 month financing it's only $62.00 a month AND it's an awesome machine.
However, I use and am in love with my Bernina 730 Record. I don't want to put it aside and never use it again because of a fancy new robot. I have a Viking Designer One which does all the embroidery I think I need -even though it uses wax cylinders, er, I mean diskettes for uploading images. And, I have a swell Pfaff 1473 which does 9mm stitches.. I do not need anything ! But still I hate to miss out on an awesome machine at an awesome price.
First World problems. Thanks, Bert

Have them knock off another 200 and you got a deal..

Bert. as you have other machines.. this is my advise.. DON'T finance a machine.. its not a necessity and the payments will detract from your enjoyment. Set a bit of pocket money aside now and then and you can still get one.. and cheaper even.. on the resale market.. I bet this is an impulse buy you won't even really want by the time you save up for it..

I agree with poorpigling. It's a great deal, but if you don't have the cash to get it outright, then save for a day when you can. You'll miss this deal, but there is always good deals that come around.

I'm with Poor Piglin with that one. Just because you think it might be a good price and it might be on sale, doesn't mean you need to buy it. It should have some features that the others don't. And 48 months of payments for a machine that is similar to the others, to me, isn't a good move either. You'd be asking yourself after about the 12th month--"Why did I do this?"

Okay. You know sewing machines are way cooler and more useful than rocks, right? At least in my estimation.
The 48 month financing is zero percent interest - so, to me it's a great way to spend little bits at a time and re-establish a good credit profile. I could pay for it with cash tomorrow if I wanted to.
Yet, I don't need the machine. It does have the option of hooking up to BSR which none of the other machines have and I would like to quilt my own wall hangings and lap quilts. My wife already has the BSR foot with her 440. I believe we could share it. Correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks for chiming in ! Bert

Free financing is the best!!! You save your cash for emergencies. $62 a month...can hardly go out to dinner once on that...I say go for it. Plus you'll get fun and brain stimulation by learning something new. I think the people who say don't finance do not realize it is no interest...it's free money. Some dealers charge more to finance but a lot do not. Make sure you are not paying extra to finance.

Do you really want to be talked out of it? Because I might be able to do this. There may be an angry rebellion here if I try. So be sure about this.

Just keep repeating your own words to yourself:

Quote:

I use and am in love with my Bernina 730 Record.

Certainly, it's up to you. But you do seem torn.

I don't buy much stuff, but when I'm badly tempted, I try to put the item out of my mind for several days. It's kind of like craving potato chips. The urge usually passes when you stop thinking about it.

Can't quote your topic header...STOP ME...and...SEWING MACHINE I DON'T NEED.

You are wanting this sewing machine...you don't need it...you don't need it.

Those interest free purchases are a carrot that can easily become a problem. If just one payment is late...just late...then ALL the interest is added to the remaining balance AND the interest RATE will be HIGH...even if it's all nearly paid off and one payment is late...then BOOM...ALL THE INTEREST IS added! Read the fine print.

You don't need that sewing machine. Spend some $ on getting the ones you have cleaned and serviced and you may feel even more satisfied. Then treat yourself and your sewing area to some well needed something or other...and you will be a happy camper.
