I'm so glad I have stumbled on this site! As a beginner with no family or friends who sew I've been googling all my questions
I'm in desperate need of pattern/pants advice for my 8 year old daughter. I really wanted to learn how to make a great fitting pair of pants for my 8 year old daughter that has quite a few fit/comfortablility/sensory issues. She doesn't like tight/non stretchy material. She doesn't like things crowding her crotch but the pants must go above her waistline. I think she is long in the back and short in the front bc her favorite pair of pants have a very short crotch seam....which i don't understand because the back has a very long seam from the crotch. I started tracing her favorites and working from those but would love to be able to adjust patterns for variety.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I'm dying to knock out a few pairs tomorrow!

I really don't know anything about children's patterns, but I can tell you that girls and women's pants have a short front crotch length and longer back crotch length. It's just the way we are built, generally speaking, to have more room in the rear end. Of course there are many fitting issues out there, but if you turn your RTW pants inside out you will see what I mean. It sounds like your daughter is comfortable in knits or stretch blend fabrics. That's good, because of the stretchiness of knits you don't have to fit so perfectly. I suggest purchasing a pattern using her measurements as a guide, but alter the pattern according to a pair of RTW pants that your daughter loves to get the fit right. Good luck!

You can do a search for children patterns on PR and you get links to others that have sewn those patterns and written a review.
A few other ways to use PR:
1. Look for a pattern that uses knits and post a question with that pattern number in the title
2. Look for the name of a person that sewed/reviewed that pattern and send them a PM (private message) asking specific questions.
3. Post another message but refine the topic post title to something more specific like: need stretch pants pattern for 8 yo and put it in a forum like Patterns and Notions.
You will find lots of helpful folks around here.
HTH and Welcome to PR!
