I bought 5 yards of a lovely, multi-colored striped (stripes are ~ 1/2" wide) rayon knit from FabricMart a few weeks ago as their "one crazy-priced fabric" deal of that day.

Although I'd initially bought the fabric to make a top or a dress, I keep coming back to the idea that I'd like to make a lightweight cardigan with it, but in browsing through my "usual suspect" pattern companies, I'm not seeing anything that meets the features of my wishlist:

* Hip-length
* Must work with a drapey rayon knit
* Must work with stripes (i.e. not a lot of seaming so as to have to deal with matching)
* I've worn the "waterfall" style for the past couple of years and am just frankly tired of it. I'd like a more simple-style front.

So, I think I want a pretty simple pattern, between working with the stripes and wanting to show off the fabric. Any ideas?

I just counted at least 4 different simple cardigans on Style Arc's site. Some looked really cute!

The Vogue is along the lines of what I'd had in mind--and I like the fact that they have views especially for stripes.

I like some of the StyleArc cardigans--I had already poured over those before starting this thread. I think that the Nina cardigan is probably closest to the picture in my brain.

The Sewing Workshop's Anne's cardigan is similar to the SA Nina. I've made it in a viscose knit - a bit drapier than the pattern image, but a nice cardi. I also made it in a ponte but found the sleeves a little snug - I didn't allow for the tighter knit.
My fav cardigan is McCalls 6247. I prefer it without the button. Don't need an FBA (and I usually do a 3-4 inch), is a quick make and is great in a viscose knit. I've made 4 over the last 2 years and they are in constant rotation.

The Jalie cardigan is nearly exactly what I had in mind. I was trying to avoid ordering it only because I just bought 3 other Jalie patterns (before cardigan inspiration struck) and didn't want to order more before sewing up the ones I just bought.

Swoon Cardigan

I just got this pattern because I fell in love with the pictures. Haven't made it up yet, but I did print out the pieces and tape them together. Hopefully I'll get one made later this week and be able to speak to how it comes together. But after skimming the directions, it looks like it'll be fairly uncomplicated.
