Just received a Pfaff Creative Vision. Yeah!!
New to embroidery.
So many brands of thread!
What is your favorite brand of thread for use /w Pfaff embroidery machines?
I want to avoid using threads that shred and break easily.
Learning the machine will be challenge enough!
Thanks!!

Floriani thread has always worked very well for me in my Pfaff, and all my other machines.

Maderia would be my first choice. Which ever brand you decide on, get their thread color chart and then match it with the brand of thread/colors used by the designer.

You can save time and frustration by using a thread stand, no matter the brand you decide on. The multi spool stands allow you to set up all the spools you will be using and you just feed the thread over. as needed, to the machine and through the thread guides.

I agree with Patti. I love Maderia thread both their embroidery and cotton.

Congratulations on your new machine!

I do a lot of machine embroidery, and I consider the design----and "Sheen" of the thread. If the designs have a vintage feel to them, I prefer Isacord Poly threads. I do many sets of Day of the Week dishtowels that have vintage looking designs, and Isacord looks good on those designs. I'm also considering investing in some "cotton" embroidery threads to stay true to the vintage era.

For other types of embroidery I prefer Maderia and Hemingworth.

I have some Floriani, but Floriani is very shiny thread and again I consider the design. Shiny threads look beautiful when doing florals, some lettering, badges.

It's good to have two or three brands of threads available. I buy most of my threads from Red Rock Threads, or locally.

My Martha Pullen or Echidna thread stand. (love it)

Have fun!

I have a Bernina machine and have used Isacord and Robison-Anton with great success.

PattiAnnJ,

Can you post a picture or link to this thread stand you're speaking of? Sounds very interesting and helpful for when I embroider.

THANKS!

I have an older Pfaff embroidery machine. It likes every embroidery thread brand I ever used, except one.I like Sulky,Gütermann,Marathon and C&C,I buy it at local stores.I will never buy Jenny Haskins embroidery thread again !

I can't even blame it on my embroidery machine,I looked at the thread,it's flimsy thread and causes problems, unlike every other brand I ever used, including cotton thread.

I like mettler polysheen I just always seem to be drawn to their colours a bit more than others. After that I would say RA and Madiera, although marathon is probably the best locally on price their colours don't grab me as much. If I'm impulse buying at the LQS its almost always mettler

I may have misunderstood the purpose of my wooden thread stand. I thought it was for embroidery so when I was first learning, I bought one used it to carefully align the colors.
It never worked quite right- nor was my entry level emb macine perfect. As I became more knowledgable, I learned to align the colors on the numbers that I wrote on a sheet of paper in order of use and used a drink cup for the active thread color.
Then I upgraded to an Ellisimo with a 10 spool attachable holder. What an advantage!
If your machine brand offers a thread stand to fit it that is the bees knees! If I do less than 4 colors I often stay with the Ellisimo packaged 2 thread stand. But if I have 5 or more, it's time to attach the 10 spool thread stand.
I am one of those folks that found Floriani to be very shiny. I have mixed Floriani and Maderia threads in the same designs, to bring it down a tad.
The Metro threads I first bought are not as brilliant and the browns, whites and blacks worked nice in my basset designs.
I am testing out using my grey and blue serger threads today because I need a soft, descrete, no sheen manatee on a tie. I am hoping it will work. Boy was it hard to find a small manatee and a small head of cabbage!
