Hi all, I'll be managing the upcoming Vintage contest and we've got a dilema trying to "date" a pattern?

No info on pattern envelope, etc... Is there a website you all know that could help with this?

Thanks! If anyone knows it will be YOU all

Renata, Vogue French Boutique #2185 in case anyone is familiar

Vintage Patterns Wiki here says this pattern was featured in Vogue Patterns July/August 1979.

I just posted the same link to Vintage Patterns Wiki in the contest thread (before seeing this message). It looks like this pattern misses the contest cut-off date by a year.

Yeah! Thank you all - too bad it's 1 year too late, but she's got tons of Vintage

Time to dig through my Vintage and get moving.

You all are a big help, thank you!

cemetarian used to have information on dating patterns on the website. Unfortunately, it looks likes she's now trying to sell it on PDF for $9.95.

Thank you all so much

We've used that link and I bookmarked, great to spend time looking at our past.

Kellie, yes I thought a few years ago the Cemetarian was the place to go, sad they want to charge for it. Tough times I suppose

Anyway thank you all for helping

Ebay has a few guides I've found useful. Here's one:

http://www.ebay.com/gds/Dating-Vintage-Sewing-Patterns-/10000000001319907/g.html

Try searching blogs -- several have done posts on this. Also, sometimes you can find the copyright date on the instruction sheet instead of the envelope. As a rule Simplicity was really good about putting the date on, while Butterick in the early 60s was not!
