Hey guys, I am trying to replicate the ritual vestments of a famous High Priestess (I am Wiccan, not that it matters as far ass my question is concerned), but I have been recommended a poly-rayon blend of fabric, which is supposedly machine-washable. However, all I seem to be able to find is black poly rayon "costume fabric" or ponte roma knits which has no elegant satiny-type of sheen to it, unlike the robes I am trying to approximate. Now, I have seem some polyester that has that "shiny" effect, but nothing with the addition of rayon. Moreover, the ponte roma knits, while LUXURIOUS, it is horribly expensive ad does not have any satiny-sheen. I am planning on lining the sleeves with a warm red colored satin, so I think the sheen of the satin might look "off" to the flatness or matte appearance of the costume fabric.

How about duchess satin or peau de soie. I just bought some to line a jacket with. Polyester, no rayon in it, and it's washable.

Do you have photos of what you're trying to replicate? The PR fabric gurus are pretty good at IDing mystery fabrics and pointing you to sources!

(I personally like a mix of textures in a garment--a flat shell with a shiny lining, etc--so I don't think that will be an issue. However, lining a knit with satin... maybe not the happiest of marriages. :))
