Today is her birthday Oct 28, 1897

A very pretty banner is on the Google site. Love this

If you click on the banner, it brings up a listing of information about her

Thanks for the "Head" 's up (pun intended!)
I had never heard of her, but some of those movies are on my top ten list. Looks like I'll have to watch them again ( I actually watched Breakfast at Tiffany's for the first time last month while hand sewing lace to DD wedding gown…a blissful afternoon for sure).

Yes, she was an icon, but long ago so sometimes forgotton. I always thought the animated movie The Incredibles character Edna Mode might have been inspired by her

Yes, with those glasses and the hairstyle I was sure they meant for Edna to remind us of Edith Head. The first thing I thought of when I saw her image on the Google screen was Edna saying "No capes!"

Thanks for posting - I don't use google search much any more, so I would have missed it.

I have the original printing of this little gem in my library!
How to Dress for Success

Of course it's dated ( the two reviews on the page are accurate), but it's a fun little book to have and reprints and Kindle are available at Amazon.com (and elsewhere, I'm sure).



Edit - just noticed she has an autobiography, or memoir, called 'The Dress Doctor'. I might have to track that one down. She was THE person to do your movie costumes in her day.

Fun fact: Edna Mode, from "The Incredibles" WAS based on Edith Head! I didn't even know who Edith Head was, until a couple of weeks ago somebody mentioned that little tidbit!

I remember reading "How to Dress for Success" back in the late "70's" and being totally fascinated with her. I use to dream about being a fashion designer just like her.
