A few months back I realise the teeny tiny screw at the back of my zipper foot, which I used to attach the quilting foot guide had gone missing.

Given the price of bernina feet (easily 20) I was rather annoyed. I reluctantly postponed the hunt for a new screw, or possible foot, until another day (I dont quilt much).

Today I was clearing out my fruit bowel. There were a few apples that needed to be ditched. I noticed something sparkly. Embedded in one of the apples was my screw. How an earth it got there I do not know!

Have you got any strange lost and found stories?

That fruit has a bowel is as strange as finding the screw there. Perhaps the apple got hungry?

I've quit fighting my inner demons. We're on the same side now.

It's just fabric; we can out-think it.

Karla said she found a dog leash in her fruit bowl...the fruit bowl is attracting some strange company.

Several years ago the waste catcher on my serger lost one of the clips that holds it in place. Recently got the machine out to do some wedding sewing for our youngest daughter and guess what I found...in the waste tray!? (That tray has been emptied many times in the ensuing years.) Glued back in place and working great.

My little 'hands off - do not touch' offset screwdrivers in Mr. A7's tool chest.

This is not sewing related--but it's my favorite. I was pregnant and hopelessly absentminded when our (manual, not electric) can opener disappeared. It turned up a month later. In the fridge hydrator drawer. Wrapped in aluminum foil. Heaven knows what I was thinking when I pulled that off.

Mine is a daily game of "what's my measuring tape?". It is not absent mindedness or the little goblin I blame for moving my car every time I go into a store (I have actually convinced poor DD he is real and it is not that mommy can't remember where she parked the car), but my sewing issue lies in my kids. They love my measuring tape. So I got a second, and they love that one too.

I am lucky if I can ever find one again if I make the mistake of putting it down where they can reach it. I have found it in the tub, with the folded towels, in the play kitchen, in a sock drawer, behind couch pillows, but my favorite is when I was down to just the one and it went missing and I was complaining to hubby on the phone who travels a lot for work. He told me he knew where to find one, in his shoe, in his bag, all the way on the other side of the country!

I think I need a third!
