Glad to hear that it went well. Can't believe you'll be sewing (hopefully) pain free soon. Was it an outpatient treatment?

yes it was outpatient. We got to the hospital at 6 am and I was home at 10:30! Slept well and the pain hasn't been bad , I m taking tramadol. Those narcodic pain killers upset my stomach terribly

I'm to do range of motion exercises with it as soon as I take the bandaging off tomorrow . Just cover the incision with a bandaid . I'm excited about sewing again soon!

It is amazing how surgery can fix carpel tunnel problems. All that pain, then surgery and the pain is gone.
The only complaint I had about the surgery was why I had to wait so long before they would fix it. Six months of wearing the brace then PT that didn't work.

Ah. I've been debating if I should get it done. I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel at 19 and tendinitis about 8 years later --- thanks dad, grandma and great-grandma for these "bad" hands and wrists!!!

My dad had it done about 10 years ago and it went horribly. He ended up having even less range of motion in his hands than prior to the surgery. So naturally, I'm scared! But so many people have it done and then can freely use their hands again!

I'm so sorry your dad had a rough time of it! I've had the carpal tunnel surgery in both hands now and the surgery to fix de quervain's (tendon issues) on both at the same time. What a relief to have it done. Of course, I think I lucked out with my doc, as the same one was still in practice and I went back to him for my second surgery. I was a bit worried about waiting so long and thought the outcome might be worse because I waited five years for the second one, but I think I was lucky. Perhaps you could look around for a different doc who has a good reputation? Of course, everybody responds differently to surgeries, so there's always that to think about. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Best wishes to both ladies on your recoveries. Hope both of you heal thoroughly and uneventfully and can look forward to years and years of trouble free dexterity.

I'm glad that it did work out for you!

I'm going to look into it. The thought of relief from what I've known so long is...just wow! :)

thanks for the well wishes
:)
today I took one tramadol early then ibuprofen after that. I took the wrapping off midday and the incision looks good, 5 stitches.
I m very glad I had it done.
Suggestion..look up a hand doctor to do consult with.
