today two lovely ladies came to my home to pour over my scrap fabric. This is stuff where I (sadly) cannot do anything further with due to size/shape or its hung around for too long.
It was so nice watching their interest and enthusiasm and hearing what they planned to do (bag making and school projects). Tomorrow hopefully all being well two further ladies will visit to get the rest.
It's nice to have more space and see it get used! I can heartedly recommend doing this for those who are reluctant to see fabric get "wasted".

I usually donate my extra fabric to Goodwill but I would much rather be in your shoes and hear about the plans for the fabric and the lovely comments! Good for you for clearing space!

I have several good friends who sew and we always go through each other's fabric before we buy. I agree it is so nice to know someone is putting my extra fabric to good use. And it is such a nice plus to find what I am looking for without going to Joanns.

Anyone who wants to let go of fabric can call me. I sometimes have a hard time finding fabric I like and usually like other people's fabric better! Just kidding.
We also have a quilt shop here that takes fabric donations and then makes doggie/cat beds for the SPCA and rescue organizations. Every now and again I do a purge and give them stuff. I love the idea of a scared to death dog or cat getting some comfort from a blanket/bed made out of my fabric.

Good for you!!! I just cleaned out my own fabric stash of scraps - anything that was less than 1/2 yd I got rid of. But since my stash isn't that big, I just threw it away... maybe I should have posted something on CL... thanks for the tip to think about in the future!!
