Hi, I just noticed the Olfa cutting mats that you clip together. Has anyone tried them? Is there an issue when you roll the cutter over the seam between mats? Thanks for your input.

I haven't used clips, but I have used duct tape to butt two together, and it did skip right there.

If there's a Tuesday Morning nearby, they have a 36x60 cutting mat for $29 available on Sunday. I'm not positive it's self healing.

My mat is in three sections and they fit together with a straight metal part with a screw at each end, I don't have any problem using a rotary cutter on this.

I have this mat. It works great, I only wish it went to 36" wide instead of 35". I haven't really had trouble with the edges where they abut, but the clips are a little bothersome when laying out a wide pattern. I got it because I have a gateleg cutting table, where the sides fold in to store it. This was the best choice for a rotary cutting mat that worked with the table. Overall I am very pleased.

I have two large mats clipped together with the designated clips.

I try to avoid the seam when rotary cutting, but if I cannot, l continue cutting then snip the bit where the cutter crossed the seam.

I do have that mat with the clips. I have not experienced any difficulty with it. It works well for me because I also have a gate leg table and often only need to use one of them.

I haven't tried the Olfa mats, but I have two Fiskars mats that I've attached to each other with Scotch tape. It's not an ideal setup, but it works.

I have four mats on my table, and while I did buy a set of the Olfa ones with clips, I don't use the clips. I was too worried about potentially rolling over them with my blade, and not being able to lay things completely flat. I placed duct tape underneath each seam instead, and it's perfect. I have no issues cutting over seams, and can't even tell when I am.

I am actively stalking this mat set now. I've learned that Hancocks carries the 23 inch wide set for $139.99. They don't have the larger size, which is what I'm after. The 35 inch wide set is regularly $199.99 at JoAnns and $179.99 at Michaels. So I'm waiting for a super coupon at Michaels and I will swoop!

I saw the 36x70" size at Joann's today for $99.99 if anybody is still looking for them.
