I've got the stand for the veil for our bassinet.

But no canopy/veil. I know that burda used to do a pattern, and that simplicity did too, however I would have to buy it used from overseas which adds the cost on a lot for a one time use.
I've got about 2.6m of 1.5m wide cotton voile. Any suggestions on what I do with it? I just don't want it slipping off for obvious reasons

Snuzal, sit down, make a cup of tea and relax. The veil for this is absolutely easy to make! Drape a piece of fabric over the bassinet as you wish and make a dart in the upper portion of the veil (where the standard would go). Use fabric that is light--such as tulle. Don't spend your money on a pattern--even!

That's what I've been figuring I'd do.. But thought someone might have a bright idea that I haven't thought of.

The only issue is, effectively sewing a dart on it, it's not going to securely hold it from slipping off the front. I guess I could sew a piece of ribbon to it, so it holds it to the back support.

It's insane, I spend my days during the week doing alterations for a flaming job, wiht some really tricky things.
And now I can't work out the simplest of jobs.

I'm thinking a simple tube of fabric , like you 'd make for a curtain rod. One would push it so that it gathers. Hope that helps.

I wanted it to still have gathering on top above the rod.
So I've unpacked all the sewing stuff and so far, so good.
doing a narrow hem on the side edges now. May put some printed fabric on the bottom, but I really don't know yet.

Why does a bassinet need a canopy?
Decoration? Mosquitoes? What?

And here I thought I was the only one plagued with this...

It helps the baby sleep; helps him or her to get his/her nights in order. Otherwise, they'll be up at night and sleep during the day.

Decoration mainly.. And because it'll be at the peak of summer when she arrives, mosquitoes and flies and other horrible annoying flying bugs LOL
