30 years ago when I was last sewing there was a Swiss thread that I liked to use--can't remember the name. Is it still available?

What is the best quality thread available for basic cotton or cotton blend sewing. I HATE thread that does nasty things like split, or pill, or . . .

metrosene? if so, yes, it is still available. it is made by mettler. it is my most frequently used polyester thread. i also like so fine #50 from superior.

for cotton thread, my pick is aurifil for quilt piecing and FMQ. i've also used mettler silk finish cotton. it's 50/3 instead of 50/2 like aurifil, and that extra ply does make a difference if you like thread to blend in.

I like to use Mettler Metrosene or Guttermann Mara, these are polyester threads. Both brands also make great quality cotton thread. Best prices for these two brands that I've found are with Wawak, NAYY.

Mettler Metrosene 100% poly thread is my go-to thread for garments.

Superiors "Masterpiece" by Alex Anderson is what I use for Cotton sewing thread.
