I recently bought this Lace Skirt. The lace and the lining are knit so its very comfortable to wear.

It's a tad short on me so I want to make a skirt like this in darker fabric and a little bit longer.

Here are the things I see in it.

1. Waist yoke
2. Side Zip
3. Lined
4. Gathered skirt piece.

I am sure I could draft one, since it seems easy but if anyone knows of a pattern like this, it will be easier

Thanks in advance for your help.

The Grosgrain waistband is kind of interesting; I am assuming that this gives a flat, non-bulky finish at the waistline. At any rate, this is not an elasticized waist, if that makes a difference.

It could also be petersham ribbon at the waist.

I wonder if you have a straight skirt pattern, you could use the top for the yoke part and the gathered section would be easy to add to it.

i can't think of a similar pattern though..

The Sewaholic Crescent might work, but the yoke is a bit more detailed. Oops, forgot the link

Simplicity has a few - S1616 looks close (the yoke from view D/E w/ a skirt somewhere between, and then just underline the lace?) or S1782 or S1500?

Also close are B5613 (if you gather the pleats instead, and make it longer), NL 6943 and the Sew Chic Spin Skirt.

Kwik Sew has a Bubble version

The Colette Zinnia skirt has some of those features and has a similar look-and-feel if you don't want to draft/frankenpattern something:

Zinnia

  • Lining option.

  • Stitched down pleats that can mimic the look of a yoke.

  • Back zip can super-easily be moved to the side.

Or Simplicity 2226? Leave off the pockets, and maybe make the yoke a bit wider. You can change the finish on the waistband to petersham too.

How about making a broad band insert below the waistband and add an elastic waist

I used Simp 2226 recently, and as another contributor mentioned, it could be made without pockets (tape the pocket piece to the skirt before you cut it. This pattern calls for a CB zipper, but that could easily be moved to the side.

I would lightly interface the yoke - and audition a couple of yoke sizes before you settle on one. I found that it ran big, and the skirt sat much farther below the natural waist than the 1" it described. Easy to fix before I closed up the CB seam, but it would have been even easier if I had checked the size ahead of time.

I have S2655, not tried yet, but eliminates that bulk at the waistband.

You could just use the bottom half of the new Vogue 8943 Claire Schaeffer lace dress. Move the zip to the side and turn the organza underlining into a regular lining.
