Hi I'm wanting to make my son some tab front tee shirts as I'm tired of seeing short tees on his 6'4" frame. I would like a pattern with a self fabric collar.

It seems Kwik Sew don't currently have one in print.

They have a women's version 3866 and I could just use that on a men's tee and open the tab the other way but would rather have a pattern with "the lot".

Does anyone have an old favourite? If out of print perhaps I could pick a pattern up on ebay?

It doesn't matter what pattern company it is although it would be nice if I can buy in Australia to save on the post.

thanks
Sue

From looking at KS 3866 I am guessing that you're looking for what we call a polo shirt here in the US? Jalie has one that's spot on; I don't know if you can get Jalie easily there.

I also found burda 7525, but no big four patterns that I could find. At least nothing in print, but there have probably been ones in the past that are now oop.

Sue, you can sometimes pick up old Knitwit, Stretch n Sew or Knit n Stretch patterns at the op shop. They all have great mens tshirt patterns (multi size) including tab front/polo styles.

I do have Kwik Sew mens patterns mainly from garage sales.

The polo shirt style I have is sized 40-46 and it has the older pointy collar (self fabric). I too have seen a few in the thrift shops. I would definitely go for ebay as many thrift shops I visit sell the patterns in bulk to dealers who sell on line--there is sure to be a pattern you like:)

eta the pattern number I have is KS 327

How about the Strathcona Henley pattern from Thread Theory? Available here on PR as a printable download for <$8. Kate of Four Square Walls made the long sleeve version with a button up neck.

Thanks everyone. I ended up being able to get the Jalie pattern brand new on an eBay store in Australia for $20 including post. I think someone must be importing a few which is very handy as post from US is quite expensive.

I think it will be good for what I want and I also have my son's favourite shirt to measure and compare......if I can get it off his back!
