I am simplifying holiday shopping this year, so I've been looking at QVC & HSN. I do lots of online shopping, but not any TV shopping. Is there any difference between these two shopping networks? Does one have better merchandise? I recognize many of the names on QVC, I'm not really aware of lots of names. As a newbie, what do I need to know about these networks?

I have used both in the past. I personally tend to order from QVC more often as there are several products there like the temp tations cook ware all 3 daughters collect and a couple of designers that I like who appear and I seem to enjoy the chatter more on the several I tend to view for the products I like. I am not a huge home shopper and don't watch except for the designer shows I like if I happen to catch them but having two daughters long distance I am a fan of shipping things to them occasionally rather than going to the post office after ordering. Both of these channels can offer bummers, I got an overpriced purse from HSN that was bad and a cruddy leather coat from the Q that I regret I didn't return (sort of forgot) though that is not difficult to do and I have done with ease. Both I donated as looking at them annoyed me whenever I saw them in the closet. I do like the convenience of the shipping to my daughters and love that they offer larger sizes on items and the designer jewelry offerings I favor and use on the Q but that is just my take. Others may prefer the other. If there is something I would care to order either would be ok for me. I shopped more at one time with both but now just occasionally get something from the lines I like that catch my attention. I tend to let the Q play if I am sewing as it is not distracting but haven't been doing that much of that lately due to time constraints. Don't know if this is helpful but is my take. I do love some of the items I have picked up but am lots more discerning since I have bought from both in the past and know the lines I like.

If you have a computer, which obviously you do, Amazon is the way to go to buy most anything, their customer service can't be beat.

I use both shopping networks, just happen to find more of what I want on QVC. Easy returns, flex pay on both (missing from Amazon) frequently.

And I am the opposite. I prefer HSN, but I think it is because I worked for them in the past and really like the way the do business.

I'm not sure exactly what type of items you're looking at purchasing, but there are tons of sellers on ebay that sell both HSN and QVC overstocks, especially jewelry. I have bought some brand new "Steel by Designs" pieces from Ebay that sell on QVC for 10 times the price.
