I haven't made many Vogue patterns and don't know about the ease they might want to include in a knit top. It says *close fitting* which is 0 - 2 7/8" of ease according to their chart. Well...0-3 inches is a big range! LOL!

And this top doesn't have side seams. Bleh.

I think your best bet would be to check the pattern to see if it has finished measurements printed at the bust point. If it doesn't, perhaps try to measure the pattern. Since the right front piece looks like it has a lot of ruching and draping, maybe the left front piece will give you a better idea of the finished measurement.

I like Vogue patterns a lot, though I don't think I've made any knit patterns from them. I'm between 8 and 10 on the size chart and using a straight 8 with SBA for A-cup works well for me.

There is zero, zip, zilch printed on the pattern tissue and the pattern pieces are CRAZY. There are 3 but yes, because of all the rouching, there isn't any straightforward place to measure. Ah. Guess I'll be going with a 14 and crossing my fingers??

thanks :)

I would not be surprised if the top has negative ease meaning that the knit is expected to stretch to fit you.

I was looking at this top too. From my experience with the crazy pattern, cool drapey donna karan patterns (v1282, 1259), they run big. I usually use a 12 or 14, and I usually go with 12. For v1282. I could've even gotten away with a 10.

For the top, if it was really a thin drapey 4 way stretch knit I would pick size 12 for myself, keeping in mind the back of the pattern envelope thinks size 12 is someone with bust 34, waist 26 1/2 and hips 36. That's not me at all though, I'm more like 37 and 28 and 39, and I think it would still fit me just fine. I might even be able to get away with a size 10 on it. But if my fabric was not real thin and 4 way lycra stretchy in all directions then I would for sure stick to the size 12 and not go down to the 10. I'm about five , five and don't have big shoulders. I know the size 14 would be way too big for me particular on the shoulders and probably all over. I don't know how you are though.

Thanks everyone!

The back has a solid piece that then attaches to the crazy extension. I think the 14 back measured 19" across, bringing it to 17 3/4" with SA. My back measurement is 16"
