I'm getting ready to sew Butterick 5857, and wanted to ask you folks if you think I'm on the right track with my alterations. It looks good when I pin the pattern to my body, but this is the first time I did a FBA, so I want to make sure I'm doing the right technique for this pattern.
I'm making this view, although I have changed the sleeves to not have the slit.
The bodice top front is one piece, which gathers into a close-fitting mid section. I'm making it out of a sweater knit.
I used a variation on the technique I found in "Fit for Every Body" for tops with kimono sleeves. Basically, I cut the vertical line, cut from the underarm to just below the bust, created an elongated diamond shape in the main part of the upper bodice, and then plan to ease the extra in the front that would have typically been a dart on the side. Does this sound like I'm on the right track?

This is a good description of how to do a FBA: http://www.coletterie.com/sewalongs/anise-sew-along-full-bust-adjustment
