Has anyone made this vintage purse? I have the pattern reproduction but the directons are unclear. I need step by step and a definition of Tailors Canvas.

I don't have the pattern, but tailor's canvas would probably be hair canvas. You could substitute another sew-in interfacing as well.

I think the problem with following a vintage pattern is that they won't direct you to use the new products which are great for giving structure to bags. There are lots of great fusible products now.

I would suggest trying to make a bag using a modern pattern with good instructions first. You could consider something like one of Nicole Mallalieu's You Sew Girl patterns, which are really well written and use modern fusible products. Then go back to your vintage pattern and adapt it to use the techniques/products that you learnt from the modern pattern.
