Grrr!

I traced a size 16 based on the finished garment measurements on the envelope. Then while tracing the skirt portion I noted the different finished measurements on the pattern tissue. Decided the pattern tissue might be correct as the envelope I had didn't even have a size 18 listed, yet the pattern did in fact go up to size 18. THEN I checked the website and it had NO finished hip measurements. Boooo Simplicity!

Whoa...that's messed up! Not only the size snafu, but this pattern also seems to have maybe too much ease. Compare it to your other skirts you have made and go from there. I am currently working on my first Burda pattern and the instructions are like a bad joke...wahhh!

Bad editing for sure. I have called them on things and once they asked me if I needed a job! hahahaha. Probably if I had lived anywhere near NY, I would have done it.

Well, it's certainly a slip-up in the editing and proofreading process, but that doesn't make it bad drafting. I've always wondered how they figure out the fabric requirements for each pattern in each size plus all the other assorted info on notions, etc., and then *generally* get that printed correctly. I wonder how many people take care of this at the company and what the system is for cross-checking and proofreading.

FYI, many years ago I cut out my fabric before realizing this is what had happened. I wrote to Butterick, giving them all the information and they replaced Everything--pattern, fabric, etc.

Burda did the same for me, and threw in a small gift.

The drafting might be okay, but the documentation stinks!

Good catch - I'll bet many will miss this snafu.

Perhaps you should let them know let them know
