Very sorry for the loss of your friend.

I suppose her DH is hurting too much to put a $ amount to his offer to sell you her sewing machine.

It's selling price would depend on its current condition...any damage, worn parts, missing accessories and such...so it's really difficult to just come up with a $ amount. The last time I saw any for sale online was about 5 years ago and they were going for $99 back then NIB (new in the box). Originally when a brand new model it was probably about $300...but 5 years ago they were being cleared out.

Have you seen it or better yet...have you sewn with it?

If you do get it...it's imperative to use only plastic bobbins in it because its horizontal/drop-in bobbin system is magnetized and metal bobbins will harm it.

Here is a free online manual:Free online manual for Harmony 4052

Hard to go wrong with a Janome mechanical. One of mine is my workhorse. It cost me $60 NIB but an older model. The other a Janome New Home I use as a quilter. Sorry to hear of this poor man's loss. He likely wants to clear out a lot of his wife's things.

Sorry the link is not working. It was ok when I first posted it...but I see now it's not.

What is different about your machine compared to the info inside the Sears online manual?

Happy New Year's Eve.

The link to the manual is fixed now...but have to click on the pdf icon to load the manual...four icons are shown but they are all the same as far as I can tell. Now that I looked further in the manual I see what you mean as the cover illustration of the sm is different than the one further in the manual which shows having a vertical bobbin. Seems like the sm illustrated on the cover has a drop-in bobbin. Is a drop-in what your sm has?

If you look on the backside of your sm on the lower right corner there may be a silver colored sticker...so if there is a silver sticker ...what is the precise model # with all the numbers...probably starting with 385 then many more numbers after that.

let me go look at my machine and get back to you. I had to hunt it down, I don't use it very much. I originally bought it for my teenage daughter, and she's not that interested in sewing, so I use this machine for my classes. It sews well and isn't too heavy.

dial to the left, around corner of needle is the presser foot pressure, set on 3

left dial is tension : the default are 3,4,or 5....mine is set with 3 a little left of the line

mid dial is needle position/stitch width 0 is for straight stitch center

right dial is stitch length....mine is set on 2.5
