Hi All,

I am new to the thread but have already found valuable information on here!

I am currently working on a University assignment in Melbourne, Australia (fashion design and technology) and would love if you had a minute to fill in my survey.

I have been sewing for myself for over 5 years now and myself have found issues with the patterns available in the stores. Having learnt pattern-making I find it easier to draft up my own patterns to use.

I am studying the market for Commercial patterns and their users.

Thank you for your participation :)

You might have people from all over the world filing in your survey, so it could be worth specifying both AU$ and US$, most people have an idea of the US conversion.

Good luck,
Mel

Thanks for that Mel, I hadn't thought of that. The exchange rate isn't too different so I think it'll be okay if people just use either AUD$ or US$, I can distinguish from the location question

You might want to put some lower price bands on the "how much are you willing to pay for a pattern?"question. Patterns are available in the US for $2.

I am very "cheap" when it comes to paying for patterns. $2-$8 is where I tend to stay since I can draft or change a pattern that is similar to what I have in mind.

I agree with Pamela and Kathleen; I found your price ranges too high to use accurately. Also, I'd be willing to fill out the survey but would prefer not to put my specific town in (not to mention that since I'm not in Australia it wouldn't help you out much anyway!) maybe just ask for the country/state?

I was going to complete your survery, but in it's current format it would appear to address only to residents of Australia. Is that what you intend?

I addressed the "what would you be willing to spend" question in terms of indie patterns. I so very rarely sew from Big 4 patterns nowadays that the indie price range is what immediately came to mind. For a Big 4 pattern, I'm not going to spend more than $2, maybe $4 if it's a Vogue pattern. With indies, though, I'm willing to pay pretty much what was listed in the survey.
