Thinking of buying this or Baby Lock Eclipse for same money. Has about the same features. Upgrading from a Viking 705 that is in for maintenance. Thoughts and recommendations please.

Pretty much anybody who has or has had a BL serger LOVES it! The jet air threading is amazing as is the auto tension.

I have one (the Enlighten) and love it as well. I don't think you can go wrong with BL.

Good luck!

Advantages of the Juki 1000 over Eclipse - Juki has the air threading system that's on Enlighten and Evolution, a vacuum rather than bellows style, so you fuss less with "dropping" more thread into the ports and the vacuum just sucks it in. You can thread either or - both - loopers at once. Comes with trash catcher. Easy rolled hem conversion. And the biggest most important factor to me with not so young eyes that make the decision a no-brainer -- LED LIGHTING!!!

The new Juki has a narrow turn radius, too. A nice feature.

Both are great. I have seen the lower end jukis and they are making me seriously consider them so I probably would have a tough time deciding between the 2 since babylokc is way up there for the quality of their sergers as well

Has anyone sewn on the Juki 1000? I would love to hear first impressions.

Yes. So far - great! Easy as a Babylock imagine or Evolution to switch around stitches, better (MUCH better!) lighting than Imagine, can thread either or both loopers at once with "vacuum" like autothreading. Stitches formed just right as I'd expect!

That is great to hear! Could you estimate how many hours you have used it so far?

Did you mean a 905? I don't remember a 705. If it's the 905...there isn't alot of difference between it and the Eclipse.
I've owned both.
