Hi, I was browsing a local quilt shop and found a Nancy's Notions fusible gathering tape. I think you iron it on the seam allowance and pull the strings to gather. Sounds easy, but it was pricey. Does the fusible part create bulk in the seam allowance? I can see where this would be handy for some applications.

Yes, I purchased the 15 yd. size of Fuse 'n Gather from Nancy's Notions and used it to create this neckline finish. It's a 2" strip of ITY jersey knit (so I don't have to worry about finishing the edges) with the tape fused to the WS and then gathered. Tie off the ends the same way you have to when you gather normally and position it along the neckline area. I didn't want to deal with all the pins so I then hand basted it on followed by attaching it permanently with my SM.

I haven't used it ,and I probably wouldn't bother if it's so pricey..there are some pretty easy ways to gather
*zig zag over cord and pull the cord..
*ruffler attachment ( if you gather a lot)
Gathering on the overlocker ( love differential feed)
The loosened tension long stitch double row straight stitch( my least favorite)

But you know. These products are thought of for sewers convenience ,so give it a go and let us know how you like it
