They look like great machines to me.

Simple and quilts at about the same speed as the grand Quilter.

Anyone have an idea on the going price?

They sell for about $5k in my area (same as BL Tiara and HQ Sweet 16) with the table, Teflon overlay, and bobbin winder. The stitch regulator is another $1,000 if you warn one.

I played with the Viking version at my local dealer recently. Maybe it was me? but I was getting eyelashes on the top. It had a bit of a rattling sound. Do these machines normally sound that way? It would still be fun to have.

Hey Portland, I am in lust with this Pfaff quilter - The whole deal with overlay, table, stitch regulator is $5999 around me in PA. Interest free financing also but I do not buy on payments so I am saving my money for one. I have sewn alot on it and it has performed well. Depending on the fabric the tension does have to be changed. I have found that fabric with alot of sizing makes tension change a must. I have not had 'rattling' as referred to in the above comment. It is built like an industrial machine so not alot of things to go wrong. The bobbins are the larger M ones used on the longarms. The Trustitch regulator works well but I also find my free motion when set on manual is easier to do than on my domestic machine. I would not get it without the stitch regulator just because to me that is one of the selling points for me.

I've gone in to pet the Pfaff machine. One thing I like is that the orientation of the machine is sideways, needle closest to the sewer for better visibility. The speed is the same as my PQ1500 so for free motion quilting I was able to get nice stitches even without the regulator. For more complex designs the regulator would be a must. It's an industrial machine that needs regular oiling. Without feed dogs it can only be used for stippling.

I wouldn't say that my Tiara has a rattle nor has any other one I've tried (a Pfaff and 2 other Tiaras), but it does not sound like a regular, home sewing machine. They all make more of a clanking sounds just like the 2 Crown Jewels I've used.

There was one set up at the Husky shop - I was interested in seeing the bobbin - that "M" bobbin is a nice big size. There are new industrial machines with that big bobbin - I had no idea how much bigger it was till I saw it. I bet lots of bobbin thread would go in there!

Im noticing how fast the bobbin in my industrial gets empty. Dreaming about things is better than buying them, though. I'll keep what Ive got.
