Even if I had children or grandchildren to sew for, no freaking way. Barbie clothes are a true test of patience sewing them on the machine. Hand sewing no so much.

Those are really cute. I think if sewing view O those gloves though out of a knit, much quicker and more easy and better, to just sew them up in a few minutes by hand, than with any sewing machine.

If using a sewing machine for that, I would not even cut them out, out of any knit fabric with the pattern. Instead, I would just put the pattern pieces on some big squares of knit fabric, and trace around them. And sew them first, and cut the fabric out later. Done that way, the only part you could not do like that, would be insetting the thumb piece into the rest of the glove, and a few hand stitches could do that, in a way just not even worth trying to at all, on a sewing machine at all.

At least Barbie doesn't have individual fingers!

lol, Urban.

I'm tempted to see if I could make my little bags with better stitching than their examples.

I should pay attention to the next time McCalls has their cheapie sales on patterns at Joanns...

For a buck or two, I'd try it... but for $8 or so... notsomuch.

Oh.. and most Barbie stuff doesn't intimidate me... but those gloves?!?!? Really?

They don't have to be real Barbie clothes, on a Barbie doll at all, I think they could also make pretty nice little Xmas tree ornaments too, particular for someone that had a lot of purses or such! Just stick a xmas ball wire loop kind of hanger on them even, and they might be pretty neat that way too!

Or on the purses they could by strung with some beads on even a necklace or something like that. Or be a little purse decoration hanging off your real purse with some long leather fringe. Or, some dangly pierced earings?

I think I just talked myself into getting that pattern I'm going to wait till it's $1.99 and pick it up there since now I want it too!

The secret to making Barbie clothes is to use fabrics that don't ravel. For satin use knit lame' or heavy tricot. Then you don't have to hem them, you can just stitch lace or trim on the edge.

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.

There can be decent money in doll's clothes. I was kind of amazed last time I looked into it. Many people will pay as much for their dolls as they will for themselves.

Are you kidding? Where have you ever seen them go for a price that would be worth doing?

I'm soooo not being sarcastic... but when my kids were little, and I was quite the insomniac, I'd stay up and make a piece or two ... and eventually have a friend sell them at craft shows for me. I can't imagine what I'd charge these days to be bothered even doing them in my spare time.

Funny how times change, eh?
