The first fabric (windowpane plaid) in this pattern:

Does that seem like a good match??

I really like that K. Tilton pattern (V8863) and love the fabric. It's 100% wool and more of a suiting weight than coating weight. I was thinking of leaving off the knit sleeves though...

I think that would look cute, but I love almost every plaid, lol. (I would probably leave off the knit sleeves, too - may try to extend the sleeve to 3/4 length?) Leaving off the sleeves makes it a "warmer weather" (or indoor) jacket, so using a lighter weight fabric makes sense.

I'm not sure how the front "matches" up. is the tilted panel really angled, or is the fabric on grain at the shoulder the same as the other front piece?

I think it might be fun if the zipper and edge were on grain on the larger front piece, and the shoulder/vertical was on grain on the other. But that might make the sleeves look odd?

I *think* it is really angled.

Considering it is -2 right now with windchills of -20 Farenheit...anything that isn't down filled and fur covered is a "warm weather" jacket! LOL!!!!

A somewhat "printed" fabric to show how the front may be made...

I don't have the pattern yet but Vogue is going on sale for $3.99 on 12/15 so it will be miiiiine.

I definitely think it would work. The style of the jacket is asymmetrical, and the plaid will emphasize that. I don't see how you could go wrong. (I agree w/ Donna on the weight / use.)

I think it would be cute and edgy! Work to jeans look.

Make a copy of the pattern drawing and color the copy like the fabric you have in mind - this works well with color blocking too.

This pattern is on my list to sew for a spring jacket. I love your choice of windowpane plaid, and think it will look wonderful with work clothes and with jeans. What are you planning to use for a trim around the exposed zipper?

Thanks Vivian

That's a good idea Judy!

Not sure Marec. I'll have to play around with some option once I get the front cut out. I can't wait to see your version.

OMG I *LOVE* this version on the Tilton blog!
