I found 2 patterns I want to make & both require big needles... size 17 24 inch circular... the other requires size 36 24 inch circular. ...Where are you buying your big big needles? Do you like using them? ........... I know I should have gotten these a while ago but I just spotted the patterns yesterday! .....
Thank you.

I don't like using them. I have used big needles and crochet hooks occasionally but definitely not a favorite. FYI, I just saw the other day that Hiya Hiya is coming out with a size 17. Not sure if it's part of their interchangeable set or a stand alone but it might be worth looking up.

I noticed that Hobby Lobby has a whole new brand of needles. I noticed very large straight needles. I wasn't really looking for knitting needles but I was surprised at their selection. You might try there. What are you making?

I am making cowls, using 2 strands of yarn together the pattern says.

I have made an afghan with giant needles-I think they were a 17 or a 35 using 4 strands of yarn. You could probably adjust the pattern and use smaller needles if you can't find the large ones.

Try jimmybeanswool.com NAYY
but I just ordered size 50 circular needles from them today. First order so no reaction yet.

ETA: I received my needles today and they appear to be really nice. They were delivered fast by 1st class mail and were well packaged. I would happily purchase large (really big) circular needles from this site again. Just wanted you to know. :)

Knitpicks sells size 17. I really like their wooden ones. Not sure about the 35s. Stitch Diva Studios sells some unusual sizes, but they're pricey because they're handmade. Check ebay, maybe? Or a local yarn shop should know where you can find some.

Thank you everyone ... I am looking some of the sites up. ...
The largest is I have is size 13 & I think those would be way too small for either project.
JoAnn's has the 17 on sale with 12 cent shipping but gosh they are so slow to get things from & I am a slow knitter. ....
Thanks so much....

You should try Lionbrand Yarns and they also have a website, http://www.lionbrand.com/ . They are an old favorite of mine and I have ordered off their site even recently. Terrific company to deal with and they have tons of needles, etc. Also try, www.patternworks.com. They are in NH, I believe, and also a terrific company.

Oh I got so so mad! I was binding off the cowl with the size 17 circular ...Bates Quick Silver & the cord part busted but I did not notice til in the area where all the stitches had been off & unraveling awful! I guess I cut my losses... but boy oh boy Really ticked off & no ride to go get another pair somewhere else & a waste of really nice yarns I bought! .. Makes me so mad! ...
I guess these projects are just not going to happen this Christmas...
