My ds outgrew one of his dress shirts. It's made out of a striped (or is it pinstriped?) shirting material.

It's size 14, if that helps. Any ideas of what I can do with it? I do have a 10 year old dd, if that helps too.

Thank you!

I saw a Nancy Z show where she took an adult shirt buttoned up and sewn down the button panel & cut an apron front from it.
She made drawstring gift bags from the long sleeves.
Using that concept you could make a pillow front and back- or two pillows mixing other fabric for the other side.
You could also reuse the fabric for inside pockets or waistbands.
You could remove the collar and re-attach it to a sweater or sweat shirt.

You can also make a girl's pillowcase dress/tunic from it, leaving the button front intact. I've seen several Blogs online for re-purposing Daddy's shirts.

If she is smaller than him This makeover could be cute.

I saw dress shirt sleeves made into wine bottle gift bags. The cuffs were the top. Very cute. Here It is

How about a great little outfit for a doll, or bear, if your daughter has one. Does she sew? This could be a fun project for her to reuse the shirt and buttons, and she could make a cute bag that would match her dolls outfit. Maybe with zipper in it to learn how to put a zipper in.

There's a pattern company that offers a pattern for making an apron from mens/boys shirts; for the life of me I can't thing which company it is. They were cute tho, something perhaps a 10 yo girl would be ready for. I'll come back with exact pattern later....

I made a dress out of man's shirt for my dgd. I had it button up the back, and made a peasant neckline.

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.

Wow! Everybody. Awesome ideas. My ds has another dress shirt that he's outgrown. Hmm...lol.

Btw, I must have him trained or something. My ds is the one that asked me if I wanted to re-use his shirt for something sewing related.
