I am looking at a huge pdf Burda pattern file, liking the style and dreading using the pattern. Our printer is connected wirelessly and our wireless is spotty. Plus, I don't like fitting these pages together under the best of circumstances but right now I a buried in seasonal clutter and projects.

Does anyone know of a service that will print the pattern out on one large page for a fee? I really like the pattern and I would like to sew it before January, but I don't think I can manage the pdf format.

I've never had it done, but it's my understanding that you download it to a thumb drive, then take it to Kinko's or other print shop.

I just emailed a pdf pattern to a blueprint shop and picked it up the same day -- yay! Call around and you should find a similar service.

What does it currently cost to have a print shop print one of these up (ballpark figure)? I remember when I looked into it a few years ago, it was pretty expensive on top of paying for the pattern. Has the price dropped at all?

Shop around. I had some architectural drawings printed recently, and a specialist reprographics shop was less than half what kinkos (or office depot, or some place like that) wanted. You'll want to know the dimensions of the printout, they charge based on area.

It's not cheap, though.

It depends on the size (i.e. dimensions) of the page. I had the Woodland Stroll cape printed at OfficeMax and it was about $6.00 for a 38" x 36" sheet. I would definitely have spent more than that amount on ink to print it, let alone the time involved in taping, etc. On the letter size pages it was 25 sheets.

I had a large chart (not pattern) printed at the UPS store. Kind of a surprising place for that, but something you might look into. I just took the file to them on a USB stick.

The last pattern I took to Staples was to be printed on 2 sheets of 24" x 36" paper and the cost with tax was going to be $36. I took the pattern home- needless to say.

Many of the .pdf patterns have the single page version included - I know Oliver + S and Lolita both include the page. If you have the single page, upload it to Staples and pick it up in about an hour. I think I paid about $7 for a 48x48 sheet. I just factor in the price of printing when considering a .pdf pattern.

I don't like the time or fuss to tape pages together and I really don't like the mess that needs to be stored ---- too much trouble folding the taped together pieces.
