Someone in my area is selling one of these little machines. I've never heard of it, but it is super cute. Would love some info.

Oh gee. without a model number I would not venture a guess. but I will add Janome now has so many models out its hard to keep track of them all.. So while I can't comment on any specific price or such not knowing the model number.. I will say Janomes have a good reputation for the most part.. Again .. there are always those who don't like them.. but there are many more who do..

Course I would buy it just cause its Purple..

They sell new at WalMart for $69.97. There is also an orange model and a hot pink one.
I saw a turquoise one at another retailer, but I can't remember which one.
It will come up if you search Janome Purple Thunder.

I think you may mean this one sold by Walmart? Personally, for the money, I'd buy one of the Brother's that Walmart sells. I bought an LX2500 last Dec. for $74 which completely turned me into a fan of Brother sewing machines! I just bonded with Brother in a way that I haven't with any of my other machines. It sews fine and delicate fabric, or thick and bulky -- I just make sure to use the correct needle. Loading the bobin is easy; winding it is easy; threading is easy; I haven't found a problem yet. I love the information on their website, and I love their really fast customer service. My machine model seems to be out of stock at the moment at Walmart, but they have a new model --JX2517 -- that is "mine," just different in its cover design (a sort of wildflower floral design versus the aqua blue stylized floral on mine). They also have other inexpensive Brother's that have stood the test of time and have tons of great reviews, if you're wanting one in the low $60's/70's price range -- LS2125i and XL2600i are two good examples of these.

Those are like the Janome Sew Mini in bright colors. Very small...weighs about 5 pounds. Only difference I can see is that the colorful ones have a tiny pull out drawer. There is a PR review about one: Janome Turbo Teal Review on PR
