Winter is a fun time to experiment with fashion because of the types of clothing combinations you can’t make at any other time of year. For instance, boots and coats make fun accessories to any outfit and it’s stylish to be warm and comfortable. Layering is a way to put together outfits with surprising and attractive results.

Skinny jean layering

Glamour magazine suggests a number of ways you can incorporate layering into your wardrobe. Skinny jeans can go with anything—tuck them into boots, match them with ballet flats and a leather jacket, or slip on some high heels and a long, flowing top for all the looks you need throughout your day. They’re also easy to slip leg warmers over if you need the extra warmth.

Switch out sweaters

Sweaters are another fun, exclusively winter article of clothing that you can pair or layer with a number of options. Put a long sleeve tee underneath in a contrasting color, wear a collared shirt or polo, and combine it with trousers, a skirt, or even leather pants, if that suits your fancy. They’ll also go with any number of shoes styles and can be stylish or ugly, depending on the party you’re headed to.

Warm pajamas are yet another perk of the winter months. During the summer it’s hard to escape the heat and you can only take off so many clothes. During the winter, however, you can add layer upon layer of blankets and clothing until you’re as warm and snug as your heart desires. The big winter coat

Just be careful not to clash your coat with the rest of your outfit in the event you take it off indoors or want to leave the zipper open. A neutral-colored outfit will match best with a bright coat color. Boots are another item of clothing you might have to wear every day, so choose a pair neutral enough to match a variety of styles but still attractive enough that they don’t feel out of place in indoor settings.

I love fall/winter clothes and sewing for the colder weather. That article said it all! Sweaters, jeans, boots, jackets, pj's, layering...it's all so fun. And the fabrics are texured and rich. The best thing for me is that since my sewing room is upstairs and the summers here are hotter than you know what, I can sew for hours in the winter and not get sweaty - yay! :-)

Thats what bugs me about winter. Your only fashion statement is your outer coat from Nov. to Mar. Under that I always wear the same work clothes year round because our offices are always the same temp. with central heating/cooling.

I feel for you. I remember wearing sweaters to work and wanting to rip it off because they had the heat too high in the office! Unfortunately it was against company policy to rip off your clothes during work hours.
