Does anyone know if Janome foot pedals are interchangeable with other Janome machines?

What model Janome do you have? Do you have a manual for it?
It should be in the manual what foot pedals are to be used with it. If there is only one foot pedal model #...then it's best to email Janome to ask if another model # can be used with your sm.

That really depends on the model/age of the machine. They have 2 different types for mechanical--lead cord and pedal all in 1 unit (3 pin round/2pin squared off on both ends). Some machines are mechanical with an electronic speed slider/needle up/down and these machines have a separate foot control and power cord. Than there's machines that are computerized some use black foot controls, some are white metal and some are larger white with re-tractable cord made for the Memory Craft line of machines. These are not interchangeable and need to match the models they were designed for. What model do you have?

The machines I have are the Jem Gold 2 and the MyLock 644D.
They are not brand new but in very good condition. Just got them.

Link to pdf manual for Gem Gold 2: Gem Gold 2 manual On page 5 it reads use foot pedal model YC-482-J or TJC-150.

For the serger MyLock 644D...so far only found manual for MyLock 634D. Foot pedals for that model are YC-530-1 or YC-482-R.

There are similar foot pedal model #s: YC-482-J and YC-482-R.
Maybe best to check with janome by email to make sure if the J or R are significant.

Is the Jem or the serger missing its foot pedal?

Edited to add: Found the pdf manual for MyLock 644D and foot pedal model #s are the same as for a 634D. Look on the page right after the illustrated cover page. Link to manual: MyLock 644D manual

I think they are, for your particular two of them. If one plugs into the other, correctly and it actually fits and you press on the foot pedal and it all works, then it's interchangeable That is about all that counts. So just try it. It can't hurt anything at all.

Really? I have 2 machines that use the white metal controls & 2 memory craft machines that have retractable cords & I use the retractable ones in all 4 machines.

My overlocker (serger) is an old 634D but it uses the same power cord as my mechanical Janome. Very handy...I just keep the one cord plugged in and use the other when I take either machine to a retreat. Edited to add that this cord also fits my Janome Coverstitch machine.

Just bought a used Janome MC6500 with a missing foot control. Do I have to buy the white retractable one or is there a less expensive black one?

The 6500 uses the white retractable foot control.......sorry!! If you have one from another machine they definitely are interchangeable.

Don't know what price you've been quoted but I just had a quick look on eBay and they are listed at US$104.95.

Has the seller really 'lost' the foot control, or just can't find it? thinking if it might be worth checking with them again. Other than that, try Craigslist...I've seen them listed on Gumtree here and that's similar to CL.

Good luck, hope you find one asap ;-)
