I have a singer 201 I bought a couple months ago. I haven't really got a chance to do more than just some mending on it.

I've been using two other machines but one just gave out. Anyways, I took the "Sew Better, Sew Faster" class on craftsy by Janet Prey. Glad to have taken it but she got me thinking: she really recommends a knee lift and says the Babylock Jane is her go to machine. I saw the universal presser foot lifter mentioned on a previous post and was wondering if it was possible to put one on a Singer 201 as it doesn't seem to mention it.

Otherwise I am considering selling it and getting a straight stitch with a knee lift. What do you think?

Just thought of calling the number on the website but no response.

There are light industrial 201s that came with a knee lifter. They show up on Craigslist and eBay from time to time.

Here's an expired eBay listing, just so you can see the photos. There is a rod that goes through the bed of the machine that connects to the knee lifter; note the industrials had no fancy gold decals on the bases.

Don't know about outfitting them with the newfangled pieces, which I guess was really the question you were asking.

------
Don't confuse accessibility with ease; just because anybody can pick up a needle and thread doesn't mean sewing quality garments is easy.

Thanks DreinPa, do you know if those were common?

As far as the universal presser foot lifter, Shirley from the website emailed me back and said they should work with the 201. However, it is something you step on to lift the presser foot and not a knee lift.
