After looking for weeks for a table to suit, Hanpanda found a vintage White sewing cabinet for sale on Craigslist. Hours of searching and looking through antique stores did not present any find that would fit her space nearly as well as this one, so Hanpanda decided to adopt this forgotten, unloved piece.

Once housing a classing mechanical, this piece had been beaten up and mistreated by some rather unscrupulous owners.

Hanpanda felt it deserved a new home, and for $15 she could probably even swing a repair job....even though Mister Hanpanda, her mother, AND sister all doubted whether it could be saved.

It had some unique components that Hanpanda really appreciated and felt would work well for her purpose.

Little Girl was totally on board for the project.

So after much research, Hanpanda began sanding......

....and priming.....

....and painting....

....and painting....

...and making decisions.....

....and protecting the interior.....

....until she finally finished her masterpiece serger table. What character! What pizzaz! What a massive waste of time that kept her busy while her sewing machine was in the shop!

I hope you've all enjoyed my story.

You did a beautiful job on that master piece.
I think your surger will love living in it.

Thanks for sharing your before and after photos. I have a similar, but older cabinet which I retrofitted a Singer into. The good thing about these cabinets is that if you have to downsize, you can always use it as a nightstand, too.

Where there is a will, there is a way....I knew this would work when "should I buy it" was first discussed a few weeks ago!

Bless your heart - that looks lovely. I just love the color you choose. BEAUTIFUL. I am sure the table is thanking you with its little table heart. :)

This is extremely cool. You did a great job - love it! Refinishing is not for sissies, it is hard work. But your results were well worth the effort. Thanks for sharing.

Brave soul! Doing all that sanding and painting *in* the house!

Your'e braver than me!

(I've got a coffee table that has been destined to get stripped and painted for the past 5 years or so!) I always find an excuse to not get started on it.

Loved reading this! Adorable table. I have an old Singer cabinet in my kitchen that I love. I never painted it, but I should.
