Subject: I did exactly what you suggested - hang out on Craigslist - without photos Date: 12/29/13 10:12 PM

I have scored REALLY well! Thanks for all the postings about finds on Craigslist!

I have two Janome sewing machines, and both deserve the right cabinets. Two years ago, my husband went with me for the first cabinet, and just about stroked when he heard the prices. I ended up with a white version of this one:

(I actually purchased it from this dealer.) A small rolling cabinet fits under it and came free. I have been switching the Horizon and the MemoryCraft back and forth; recently I had an accident with the Horizon during the shift; it was an expensive repair.

Obviously, I needed another cabinet! I have two former sewing cabinets, but try as I might, there seemed to be no way to get the smaller MemoryCraft into either one. So, I've been haunting craigslist. Folks here seem to hang onto their machines and their cabinets. I've been haunting the Mobile, New Orleans, Memphis area with very little success. Until yesterday, when I found the cabinet I'd hoped for.

Today, I drove 2 hours and picked up THIS baby!

It is the oak version. I'd love white, but for $225 and in PERFECT condition, I can live with it. Previous owner bought it to go with her used machine, but then only used it 8 or 9 times total. It's been sitting in a storage unit for the past 9 years.

Hubby went with me, and even he was pleased with the find.

I got a free Singer CP-17C with it - I'll get that fixed up (needs more feet) and rehome it. Tomorrow I work on adjusting the lift and consider inserts. There's a spare piece of the surface laminate, and I may consider making my own template (or checking into plexiglass) for a "perfect match."

Congrats! I love window shopping on CL. Whenever I get itchy I browse and add to favorites. I have no room to add another but it is fun to see what's out there and what it seems to be worth.

Beautiful cabinets! I wish I had the room for something like that. I'm working in a converted closet.

The link for the first cabinet is missing the colon : after the http.

These are wonderful. I'm looking for something to set a second machine on. I don't have a great deal of room in my sewing area, so I'm working on Hubby to custom build me a little table on rollers, with a hinged leaf, I can just sit off in a corner somewhere or roll over to my sewing desk.
