A few months ago I purchased a new Pfaff 2058 that came /w the new warranty from the dealer. It was in pristine condition and did truly look new.
The dealer said they checked it out before I bought it.
1st time I used it the screen wouldn't come on and it would not work. The dealer said the mother board wasn't securely attached and it was an easy fix.
2nd time I used it at a day long quilt class. It came on but could not get the screen to change and could only use the straight stitch. Then within a few hours the screen disappeared altogether and I could only use the straight stitch. We had multiple machines going and were using extension cords and surge protectors. Could that have made any difference?
The machine has been at the dealer's for several weeks. They cannot duplicate the problem. I asked tech to leave it on all day and then try to use it. He said he did and it worked fine.
Today I asked him to call Pfaff and see if they had an archive /w this problem and a fix. And to leave the machine on all day again and then try some complex stitches and try to change options like auto pressure lift on/off etc. 5 hour round trip & don't want to pick it up until it's fixed.
Has anyone had a similar problem /w this machine or a similar model?
Thanks in advance!!

I bought my 2056 in 8-12-05. It is the bigger stitch plate. I lost my ability to have it tell me It was running out of thread,
Took it to the repair person. I had to pay 500.00 for a new circut board. we did this as this is the last ppaff with this many stitches..and made by ppaff.
I had to have them solder the board as it was loose at the cord. and my bobbin has quit letting me know it.s running low.
Other side of the story I love this machine I have made "couturer cloths" to quilts. I wouldn't trade it for any thing. It sews what ever I put it thru. (Singer bought ppaff.)
Check the cord it ,probley needs sodering. my serial #305145244-that should give you about the age of yours

You say you purchased a "new" Pfaff 2058 and it came with the new warranty from the dealer. This sounds a little off to me since that machine came out 7-10 years ago. Was the warranty through the dealer or Pfaff? If it was a manufacturer warranty, did you register your machine online or did the dealer do it? I worked for a multi-line dealer from 2010-2012 and can tell you that we had a bunch of the 2044, 2048, 2056 and 2058 machines that had come in as trade-ins when the Performance line came out around 2008-2009. They are great machines, but the electronics tend to be the first thing to go as the technology was different when these were made. If you truly got a new in box machine, then it had to be buried in a storage room somewhere and recently unearthed. It's still a near 10 year old machine and it is possible that something has corroded from sitting. You need to go back to the dealer and tell them you want it fixed once and for all or replaced with an equivalent model. This is all assuming that the dealer is a current Pfaff authorized dealer. During the whole Singer/Viking/Pfaff sale/merger/combination, dealers dropped lines (including Pfaff) or had their dealer contracts revoked for various reasons. If your dealer is one of these, then he is just trying to sell off old inventory and can not get original Pfaff parts anymore. If you get no satisfaction from your current dealer, find another (no matter how far) and take it to them with your warranty paperwork. Something just doesn't sound right here.

Sounds to me like a bad or loose cable from the motherboard to the LCD which would explain why you can't get a consistent repro.

I am curious why the machine sat around as a new machine for 8 or so years before it was sold to you.

Maybe it would be worth having a different tech look at it?

it doesn't matter what type of sewing you do. you are sewing, and sewing is good.
