Hello ladies,

I'm planning to make my own wedding gown (wedding in May), and I am very intrigued by this dress I just found:

(in case the images aren't working, click here.)

I love the extremely simple silhouette and the focus on the gorgeous crocheted fabric. I do crochet but don't think I necessarily have time to do it at THAT scale!

Do you know of any places online where I can order crocheted fabric that does not look cheap, is made of natural fibers, and possibly is even handmade by someone?

I'm especially interested in finding yardage with a crochet pattern that is smaller scale than this dress, and maybe even has some kind of special motif @ selvedges or center.

Willing to pay more for the right product, since it would make or break the design.

I just found some yardage that looks BEAUTIFUL. BUT, it seems pretty likely it was made under unethical conditions in China. Any idea where I could get something like this (especially love the 3D aspect to the crochet pattern), but... ethically?

That would take a lot of size 10 thread.
I have made a baptizim dress for my daughter
When she was born that took about 20 skeins.
That probley would take about 100 to 200
Skeins. Then the time you put in.
450. Is a reasonable price for that
Dress. Good luck

Quite a few sellers on ebay and etsy offer crochet-type lace, like these.

You might want to check out a number of them to see what's available--and to your taste.

Suggesting B&J fabric.Maybe Gorgeous fabric. This reminds me of Irish crochet lace dresses from the 1890's.If you can't find this specificaly you could prowl the antique shops for antique crochet tablecloths, maybe even different patterns that could be pieced together to create the fabric.Over a heavy cotton or silk sateen lining, you'd have something really unique and the crochet wok would be hand-done.

I love the idea of the antique crocheted tablecloths! Color matching might be a problem but perhaps that could be incorporated into the design, depending on what I can find...

I think that the tablecloth idea is great, and remember that you can buy a new crochet tablecloth(s) from the Chinese import shoppes. At least you can where I am.

Wonder how stretchy a crocheted dress would be? Perhaps you'd want to 'quilt' it (aka Chanel jacket quilting) to silk organza?
