Help me decide whether I should try to get to this event or not. I am a garment sewer, not a quilter.

I went to my first (and only) Expo in 2011. I enjoyed the classes I took. But even though they were fully of good info by excellent teachers, they were really short and mostly ended as a marketing spiel like 'buy my patterns' or 'buy my gadgets.'

I'm not into acquisition. I'm into doing.

While I got good "downloads" from the lectures, I really do better immediately applying what I've learned, hands on.

I am sorely tempted to experience Cynthia Guffey and local expert Rae Cumbie in action. But I wonder if it would be better for me to save my money and splurge on a sewing retreat instead.

I would save for a good retreat. I have dozens of gadgets purchased at expos that I have no idea what they are used for.

I did one of these in Chicago last year, certainly wasn't blown away.............took a binding class, which was helpful, but by the time I paid all the fees, could have learned same at a local quilt shop. I haven't done any garment sewing in years, mostly purses and accessories these days, so quilt shows serve me well at a much lower cost (not including what I spend

I haven't looked at the classes yet. Any class with Cynthia Guffey is worth taking. I will be there working the Maryland ASG booth on Sat. I will take some classes on the other days.
