I finally have an opportunity to work on a quilted wall hanging that I've wanted to make for at least the last 20 years.

But (because there's always a but) I can't seem to find the pattern/directions!

If memory serves (and I might be a bit less accurate), it was a nice size, maybe 3x3 feet square, white background, a wreath of green calico holly leaves and a number of red cardinals. All of the figures were appliqued to the top, and then the whole thing was to be quilted. It was not worked in blocks.

I *think* it came from a Christmas Leisure Arts or Oxmoor House book, but looking through my collection has not been fruitful. Which leaves me in a bit of a quandary: I know I haven't gotten rid of any of my craft books (along with cookbooks, those stay). But I'm at a loss as to where else to look.

Does the description ring a bell with anyone? I have googled without success. I would be immensely grateful for a push in the right direction. Thanks!

I remember that quilt, but I am sorry, I don't remember who made it. You might try writing to Quilter's Newsletter, they might know.

Join Pinterest if you haven't already, free, and do a red cardinal quilt search there are a lot there, not sure if any of them are yours. Also just do a plain search but hit images instead of web.

I remember that quilt...

At least I haven't completely lost my mind and invented it wholecloth!

I'll have another troll through my books and then, as you suggest, I'll try Quilters Newsletter. Thanks for the suggestion!

I tried Google image right away, to no avail. On your suggestion, I also tried Pinterest (don't know why I didn't think of that, since I've been browsing around there a lot the last few days). Unfortunately, I didn't find it, although there was certainly plenty of other inspiration!

Thanks for your suggestions. :)

Well, after a couple (more) hours trolling the most of the rest of my books, I finally found the quilt! It's from Better Homes and Gardens' "Christmas at Home," published in 1992 (so at least I had the timeframe right :)). It's called "Nature's Sparkle Wall Hanging Quilt." I had forgotten that it's embellished with round and rocaille beads.

Many thanks for your suggestions. Now to decide if this is the best "portable" project for my sewing group.

Good sleuthing! Although I did find a site that has thousands of older quilts, I could not find anything similar to what you were looking and was thinking Quilter's Newsletter would not necessarily have known this pattern and twenty years ago too old for Pinterest.

Enjoy your "new" project.

Thanks for the link and so glad you found it!

The appliques and the quilting are exquisite.

Now...where do I find it.....?

That is a beautiful quilt, and you must have been on Cloud Nine after finding it! Good luck and let us see your project when complete!
