I have mentioned this a couple of times but thought I would try on here. I read topics and soon come to a halt because I haven't a clue what some of the abbreviations mean, for instance read one today that said FBA, not a clue......did work out DIL but DH?????!!!!!😳 maybe it is an across the pond thingy and I am sure it is a two way thingy (lol) but a glossary and dictionary would be soooo helpful. Thank you

Here you go:

Abbreviations list

You are not the only one who has needed this list: some are general internet abbreviations and some are sewing specific abbreviations

Hate abbreviations without explanations!

I never refer to my husband as dear anything! If I did, he would be very suspicious of what I might be up to...

And then there are the new terms, like Polar Vortex. We used to call this winter and it usually meant extra days out of school!

The Urban Dictionary has more terms and many are not worth repeating or remembering.

I love British and Canadian TV shows. I use closed caption so I can look up some of their terms.

Some of us need to add DGS, DGD, DGD, DNc, (niece) DNp, (nephew) etc to refer to second and third generations whom we sew for. I usually spell them out since nothing is standard yet.

My hubby is the absolutely best and most supportive- we both refer to each other with terms of endearment daily so the D part doesn't bother me. Others use spouse- whatever you are comfortable with- its just to get the point across so your question or response is understood.

LOL Don't feel bad, when I first saw it written here, my best guess was that a TNT referred to a *dynamite* pattern.

edit to add: only in the past year or so did I finally figure out what FOE (fold-over-elastic) is...sounds like great stuff but I still don't have any! There are many abbreviations (sewing and otherwise) that still elude me.
