Has this happened to anyone else? Lately, the wax free tracing paper I've bought, well-known brand purchased from a well-known chain store, is so dry it barely makes a mark on my fabric! Tracing wheel and paper is still my favorite way to mark fabric. I just want the tracing paper to function as it should.

Is anyone else having this problem? Is it just me?

I did too...but figured I wasn't using it correctly but as youdescribe it mine did seem similar. Maybe there just isn't the demand for something like this and it sits around too long a and gets dried up. Honestly I had not used it since high school and that ws over 40 years ago but I do remember it worked very well back then so something is different about it. I use a chalk marking pencil...and forgot about using the paper. pretty disapointed too.

Might as well check mine before I need it. There is probably a difference between the carbon copy paper we grew up with and what they sell today.

The dritz 4-pack tracing paper I bought for high school sewing class in 1957 is still in perfectly good shape...used it again last week! Red, blue, green, white sheets are crisscrossed with holes, but thankfully when I started using it I confined myself to using half sheets. At this rate, I figure I'll never have to buy more, so I'll have to take your word that (unsurprisingly) the quality has diminished over the last 50 years!

I have a different problem with it. I get smudges of colour all over the place. If I rest my hand on my pattern while the marking paper is on it ... smudge. Heck even just moving the tracing paper from one spot to another to continue tracing a line I get lots of smudges on the fabric.

I found this really neat tracing paper in my stash. I has to have bought it at least 22 years ago! It is some kind of purple paper stuff that is moist. It almost feels like damp crepe paper. It was stored in an airtight ziplock bag. It sure works great. I wish I knew what it was and where I could by more!

Not just you. I'm not buying anymore of that brand!
