Hi all. Since so many folks have sewn this pattern and no one has asked the question I figure it may be my inexperience at work here. I followed the sewalong and still can't figure this out. After the collar (and stand) is sewn to the shirt the next step is turning out the collar stand with right sides together and sewing a seam to "tuck it in". It's not clear to me if you sew over/enclose the button band although it appears that you have to if you are sewing a 1.5-2 in seam. My work looks exactly like Jen's on the sewalong to this point. Any help out there? Many thanks in advance!

I just made my first Archer and am starting on my second one this morning. I had the same uncertainty even when following the great sew-along.
When she says to tuck up the button band in order to stitch the collar stand remember that your purpose here is to get it out of the way of accidentally stitching it to that 1 1/2" seam that will be closing the rounded end of the collar stand.
Be brave. Get that button band out of the way, I tucked mine inside and sideways. Imagine that the button band normally will hang vertically...but while stitching that small rounded section of the collar stand, the button band will be tucked almost horizontally while stitching just the 1 1/2" collar stand. You are to be stitching the collar stand seam only, free of the button band, while it is inside, tucked out of the way in a bulky bunch while you persevere to get that collar stand seam, right sides together, stitched smoothly.
It really comes out nice when turned out. Love this pattern.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for responding. As it turned out I gave it one last try and really did as you said, manhandling that button band out of the way. In the sewalong she didn't seem to be "manhandling" hers! On my "final try" it worked! And it does look great. I'm making a sleeveless version, am nearly done and already have fabric for my next. It's a great pattern. Appreciate the help and look forward to seeing your version.
