My mom is looking for a embroidery machine and after a bad experience with the only brother dealer in the area she found a husqvarna dealer she likes (it is located at JoAnns Fabrics) and now wants the Designer Ruby. Does anyone know what the going price is? I believe MRP was almost $6 but I wonder how much of that is up charge due to the location it is being sold in. Any help is appreciated

Prices are regional so it is best to check with several dealers within you area. I have found a great range of prices even for my machine dependent on where you live, also paying cash and financing also plays a role as you can get machines cheaper with cash so when people post prices it is really hard to compare if it is due to region, financing, trade in if there was one, it is very difficult to determine if it is a good deal for your area without going to a few dealers

That is what several of my friends have paid for their Ruby's and they love them.

The only Viking dealers near me are all in joann fabrics.so I'm assuming they would all be the same price?

Prices are regional, but Viking is always running a promotion of some kind. Check their website.

I am on my second day after getting my Ruby. So far I am impressed. I am taking my time (teacher on summer break) getting to know her. So far all I have done is sew and checked out the stitches. Awesome. Auto cut at end of seam, can wind bobbin with thread in needle-take bobbin off winder and insert and be ready to sew without having to thread the machine. Touch screen (5 x 7"), and so-so-so much more. I got a deal on the 6D software. I have installed the software but not time yet to work with it. I will post more as I go.

So glad you love your machine. It is a very nice machine. I always liked it. Someone had a ME item that looked wonderful -- I asked what EM was used---it was a Ruby!!

I have a ruby and love it. Two things I've learned, you have to turn jump stitch trim off on many embroideries. cutting yourself give nicer lines and doesn't leave a mess behind. The trim feature is awesome when sewing. And that while doing embroidery it does better which a a straight stitch plate and straight stitch setting programed in.

I really really love it.

I'm not familiar with the viking models, But I have bought 2 TOL Brothers in last 4 years and I noticed with them, that in September, National sewing month, there are some great deals offered. So if your mother can hold out until September she may get more for her money.
